Liberty to the Captives

My favorite part of speaking at conferences is that I get to stand up and proclaim liberty and freedom to the captives.  It’s so exciting, and I have a secret for you.  You have the freedom to do that as well. When Christ went to the cross for you and I, He said, “It is finished.” He went into Hell and got the keys to death, then He rose and gave us a job description.  In Mark 16, He told us to go into the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. Then in Isaiah 61, it says that we get to proclaim liberty to the captives.  We don’t go out there and say, “We’re praying that Jesus would do a work in you and that you would get saved.”  No, we go out there and say, “Look, stop trying to get free because you are already free.  The prison door is open, honey, you just need to come on out.  Here let me take your hand.  You come with me.”

We’re here to proclaim liberty and freedom to the spiritual and the physical captives.  We do not have to remain in captivity because Jesus paid a price.  The Kingdom of God suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.  Bottom line, it doesn’t matter what the problem is, Jesus is the answer.  I know that because I’ve seen it first hand for thirty years.  Some people say, “We understand that God can help those people, but what about the trafficking victims?”  When God said that He was more than enough, what part of that do we not understand?  I have seen God work, and He came to seek and to save that which is lost.  He is able to save to the uttermost, and if we love people, we need to tell people the truth.
